The following information applies to students in grades 10, 11 and 12.
If a student has missed no more than six classes (all which must be excused absences) in each course in which s/he is enrolled, then the student can elect not to write one final examination of his or her choice.
4 “lates” in any one subject area will result in a loss of an exam exemption.
A student who has had an out-of-school suspension does not qualify for the attendance incentive program.
Special circumstances absences do not contribute towards the loss of exam exemptions.
Exam exemptions do not apply to grade 9 students.
Provincially mandated NSE Examinations are not eligible for exemption.
The final decision on all exemptions is at the discretion of the Principal.
It is student’s responsibility to regularly monitor his or her attendance in Power School.
Phone calls and written notes to excuse student absences must be made to the main office within 3 days of the student’s return to school.
Note:It is the responsibility of all students at Lockview High School to ensure they qualify for exemptions by checking the monthly potential exemption lists posted outside of Student Services. If students’ names are not posted, they must see their respected VP that month to re-correct the attendance concern. Because the mark will be based on class evaluation, it is understood that the student cannot miss any tests or major pieces of evaluation during the semester. Curriculum field trips and other schools sanctioned activities are excluded from absences.
